Science on Saturday

Please join us for Science on Saturday, a fun and exciting program for both students and adults. Experience “Thinking and Acting Like a Scientist.” Science on Saturday is for students who have not participated in the Van Andel Education Institute Out-of-School-Time Cohort Program. Adults fully participate in all program activities. 

1st and 2nd Grade Sessions:

Use all your senses to explore land animals and aquatic animals. Take home one of the organisms.

April 29, 2017: 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

April 29, 2017: 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.

3rd and 4th Grade Sessions:

See, touch, and investigate a variety of animals, from insects to bearded dragons and discover what they need for survival. Make a model habitat to take home.

March 4, 2017: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

March 4, 2017: 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

5th and 6th Grade Sessions:

Investigate aquatic organisms and discover how they depend upon each other. Make a model aquatic ecosystem to take home.

November 5, 2016: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

February 4, 2017: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

7th and 8th Grade Sessions:

Examine the wonders of plant and animal cells and extract their DNA. Make a DNA necklace to take home.

October 8, 2016: 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Cost

$20.00 total per team (student and adult).
Scholarships available for students eligible for reduced lunch.
