Ready for some science fun?
Please join us for Science on Saturday, a fun and exciting program where students and adults “Think and Act Like a Scientist” as they fully participate in all program activities together.
Not your typical virtual lessons!
At this time, we are evaluating delivery format of all of our programs due to the impact of COVID-19. If we deliver a program virtually, rest assured, it’s not like other programs where kids just sit in front of a computer. We want science to be fun! Although we will connect with students via technology, the activities are sure to be hands-on and exciting!

Blow the House Down!
February 13, 2021
“I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house DOWN.” Inspired by the story of the Three Little Pigs, learn to think and act like engineers to design and construct earthquake-resistant houses that can withstand the big bad wolf’s huffing and puffing. We’ll put the houses to the test and vote on the most successful design! Adults fully participate in program activities.
Sensing the World Around You
April 24, 2021
Use your senses and scientific tools to solve a mystery! And make careful observations of organisms living at the Van Andel Institute for Education. You will learn how to handle sense-ational animals… and can even take one of the organism’s home (if you wish). Adults fully participate in program activities.
Exploring Species Survival
March 13, 2021
See, touch, and investigate a variety of amazing animals—including insects and bearded dragons—to discover what they need to survive. You’ll think and act like a scientist to make a model habitat to take home. Adults fully participate in program activities.
