Inquiry-Based Science: From Theory to Practice

Discover how to engage students in hands-on, inquiry-based science in your grade level and content area. Explore how to develop rich questions; learn how to engage students in data analysis and gain strategies for helping students create explanations that include a thoughtfully constructed claim, evidence, and reasoning. Come with a desire to create engaging learning experiences that develop creative and critical thinking. Leave with strategies and lessons that you can use right away and meet the Michigan Science Standards!

Registration

For your convenience, we offer four ways to register for the event of your choice.

  1. Register online via Eventbrite with credit card only (click on a topic and date above).
  2. Email us a PO at information@vaei.org.
  3. Call 616.234.5528 to speak with a VAEI Customer Satisfaction representative.
  4. Mail your registration to Van Andel Education Institute (VAEI), Attention: Registrations, 333 Bostwick Avenue N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
    Mailed registrations must include:

    School and billing addresses and phone numbers
    Unique email address for each participant
    Grade level(s) you teach
    Title/position (teacher, principal, etc.)

    Name of event and days you’d like to attend
    Discount code, if applicable
    Purchase order number, check or credit card information

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend an event you have registered for, 100% of your paid registration will be refunded if you notify VAEI seven days in advance of the event date. Notifications after this time will result in a 50% refund. Cancellations received within 48 hours of the event date will not be refunded. A paid registrant may send a substitute to participate in the scheduled event.

If you need to cancel due to weather, call 616.234.5528 the morning of the event to notify us. There is no penalty for weather-related cancellations.

VAEI follow’s the inclement weather cancellation policy of Grand Rapids Public Schoos. If Grand Rapids Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, VAEI student and teacher programs will also be closed. Click here for more information on Grand Rapids Public School closings. 

VAEI makes every effort to hold scheduled events. If circumstances or inclement weather require that a program be cancelled or rescheduled by VAEI, you will be notified via email.
